‘Real’ised Imagination

It was morning seven. Sun entered the house and touched the apple.
He took his knife and pointed at them. They removed their jewels and were extending their shivering hands over to him…
He heard the buzz. Alarm never snoozes on its own and doesn’t let you snooze without you snoozing the same. Mil’s eyes were red as he stayed late to work on his new story. He opened his MAC, as he got up, to get the context of where he left. He felt it is shaping up, as he wants, but still, a long way to go. Within an hour, he sat back to continue.
“There is nothing strange about the fact that his wife did not listen to him. They both walked off as others send them off with teary eyes.  Does he know what he is heading to? Even HE cannot predict what is in the woods for him. As they proceeded and got tired, they hopped on to a service apartment named “#5”. They liked and planned to settle there for the long stay ahead of them”
He read the content again and was satisfied about the highlight. Now he has to develop the same. As he started to key down further, he heard the sound of the bell that calls. Walked towards the door, opened the same. He saw a middle aged man, with a smile on his face. When Mil saw his face, he lost his thought for a while, regained and said,
“Yes!! What can I do for you?”
“You are doing enough Milwaukie…  How is the story coming up?”
The man entered the house, with no further connect, came to the room where Mil was typing his content, sat near the laptop, glanced through the content…
Mil had no clue of what his happening.
Mil: “Hey! Who are you? What do you want?”... Mil thought he shouted, but air had the maximum presence in his voice
Mil: “Security!! Who let him in??” – He checked outside and was not sure whether to go out and call someone or to make sure that the man entered, does not disturb any of his setup. Impulsively reacted to the second option and followed him to the room. Saw him sitting and reading
Maara: “How long have you come?”
Mil: “How long - ?? What are you asking – who are you?? Get out first, otherwise I have to call the cops”
The man took a deep breath, rubbed his hands, slowly got up and came close to Mil, put his hand round Mil’s shoulder. Mil was not comfortable at all. Fear started slowly penetrating into him. His effort to brush away the intruder’s hand failed. He had a firm hold, made Mil to sit on the chair. The intruder sat on the bed opposite to the chair, looked deeply into Mil’s fear-filled eyes, smiled and continued,
Maara: “Is this your first story?”
Mil was not sure whether to answer that or not – but he was slowly losing his control to him. He had a blank face.
The intruder continued
“You can’t call yourself a writer if you cannot recognize the character of your story. Self-visualization of every character is the most important ingredient to cook a story. If you fail in that, how are you going to make the readers appreciate the character?”
Mil had no clue of what he was talking.
“Come on!! Mil, I am Maara”
“You mean… “Maara”?? – Mil had a look at the laptop screen and his face repeatedly multiple times.
“Yes… the hero in your story…”
Mil felt that he is having a scary dream. He just jumped out of his chair, went away from him and shouted at him, “Just leave from here!! Let me do my work – you want some money... take it and go away”
“Money?? To me “– Maara had a lengthy laugh.
“Relax – nothing is going to happen.  Believe me. I am real... Real version of your imaginary character. Writers’ creative freedom are to the limit, that they do not adulterate the dream characters – the moment they start damaging for their or no purpose, the story losses its meaning. Every such story is a life not lived. I do not want yet another death, particularly, in my story.”
Mil took a while to recollect himself.
“Ok!! What do you want?”
“Very simple I want to be with you when you write my story”
“No that’s not going to open”
“That means the story is not going to continue” Maara in a stern voice.
Mil had a sigh... turned towards his apple and continued typing.
Silence prevailed...
Mil did a lengthy stretch of typing, stopped and stretched himself. He then came to the realization that Maara was observing the story content.
Maara: “Why will I feel bad for my wife accompanying me and why will I say no to her?”
Mil: “What do you mean??”
Maara: “Why did you write that I was unhappy about my wife coming with me?”
Mil: “you don’t even know where you are going and this time, it was not that you wanted to go, but you are forced to go”
Maara: “exactly, there lies the excitement. Just after marriage, why will I not go to explore with my best half”
Mil: “You are not an exploratory character”
Maara: “Who are YOU to say about my character?”
Mil: “I am the one who created you “
Maara: “But I am the creation… “
Mil slapped the laptop screen in frustration and walked off. Maara dropped his face down.
……
Next day morning, when Mil was about to start, he looked around. He was not sure, whether he wants him to be there or not. He continued and as he proceeded, he heard,
“Wait!!” – That is when he saw him…
Maara: “This is ridiculous, why will I send her again away from me and why will she even listen to me for this stupid reason… “
Mil: “You lead and you set example of how a leader should be?”
Maara: “So?”
Mil: “Listen! Not all times in your life, you can be how you want to be... You are dictated by your fate and I am the person who control your fate and I will dictate what I want you to be”
“Fate… that’s funny, Fate is for who fears... Read your third chapter and realize how bold you have portrayed me”, Maara replied with an impudent smile.
“Yes… have faith in me. Either be here, allow me to continue or go away. I will mould you more effectively than what you are and what you think what you are”
“Come on!! I am not asking for a complete change, I need to have control on some of the actions that I do and this is one and a very important one”
“You and your character are defined by your actions. If your actions start contradicting to each other, then your character loses its grit. Given this instance, if you do the action as what you say, you will not be what I have defined you”
“Again, I remind you, I want to define MY action... Please do what I say…”
“You know what  ... if I am not able to define you the way I want, I don’t want you…”
Mil started deleting the lines that he wrote in the story. As he did that, he realized Maara becoming slowly invisible. Half way done, Mil saw a very hazy Maara. He could neither let him go nor continue developing him, with him around.
He found it hard to let him go and hence, he requested Maara to cooperate with him, to complete the story.
He heard Maara stating…  “Who was telling the story? And whose story was it anyway?
The words fluttered and flew in the wind.”
As Mil heard, he continued to delete the story and completed …..
